I recently started to replace my headliner and pulled all pillars (a/b/c) free of captivity to replace the liner without removing the interior quarter panel trim (the one that covers the speakers). I got the headliner out, but now I can't clip any of my pillars back in. My question is: Am I just screwed and I was an idiot and broke the clips? Or are the pillar covers salvageable once I put the new headliner in? I realized that I might have just cost myself a thousand dollars in parts, so I'm kind of freaking out and having a panic attack...
Heya, on the backside of every interior trim piece are plastic retaining clips. These are used on almost anything inside the car, door panels, trim panels, pillars...
The white part of the clip is removable and replaceable. Sometimes when removing panels these will get stuck in the hole and not come off with the panel. You'll need to remove the stuck clips and return them back to the trim piece before installation. There is also different variations of these clips which are flat, or have a metal retaining bit.
You could have very well broken the tabs that hold these clips on the panel, some super glue would easily fix that.
Best of luck!
Please note that the b pillars have a screw holding them in place. You will only just be able to see this screw if the pull back the large rear quarter trim. It is very awkward to get to but doable without entirely removing the rear quarter trim.
