Coolant flow into reservoir

r53-S 2005 Facelift is the car. I did an engine rebuild and I can not find a flow diagram or just a plain answer. Search was unsuccessful.
Question is (with the engine running) Is coolant supposed to flow continuously into the top of the plastic reservoir?
Any insight or help is greatly appreciated.
