Starter fitment

I'm replaceing the starter motor on my 2006 Mini Cooper base hatchback, built in October 2006. Old part has been removed, new part seems either not to fit or it is a bit of a force fit, that I am not willing to pull tighter onto the bell housing unless I know it is supposed to be a tight fit. I need input on this fitment. The bolt holes line up well, starter looks like the same configuration, but is a brand I don't recognize. If it is supposed to be tight to the extent that one must wrench on the bolts to seat it then I will do so. If not, I'll return the starter and have the original starter rebuilt locally..Thanks in advance for any input.

No, it should not require that much force.
The starters are different between manual and auto trans, so make sure you have the correct one.
