Lower Than Expected MPG During MCS Break-In?

I have sure read a load of posts (resulting from extensive use of the Search function) about gas mileage, and how fuel quality and driving habits and other things have a bearing on miles driven per gallon of fuel.

I'm somewhat ****-retentive about this - my MCS is really just a fancy carrying case for my calculator (well c'mon actually I'm not THAT bad) .

I have been obedient to the Scout Law, and to the Break In Guidelines in the Owner's Manual, with an almost religious zeal. Problem is my mileage has been less than stellar during my first 1150 miles of motorin'....

AND, it seems counter-intuitive to expect my mileage to improve in a day or 2 when I pass 1250 miles and can really wind up my new toy ... How can I expect to get BETTER mileage when I finally get to wake up all them horses?

Can someone(s) let me know what direction your gas mileage went, once you completed break in? By the way, I really LIKE "long detailed" posts, so do not hesitate to compose me a novel.

I have filled up 4 times (not from "E" but from around 1/4 each time, think 11-12 gallons), and figured mileage each time, getting a LOW of 20.9 mpg and a HIGH of (only) 23.9 mpg! I have driven a near 60/40 mix (in terms of miles) highway vs. city...

Gratefully,
Tatt

That's what I sorta thought would happen - guess I might try some different brands of gasoline. I've stuck with 93 octane so far, and daily checking of tire pressure(s) has never deviated from 35 lbs cold.

Keep 'em coming, anyone stay the same or get better?
