225/40/18 ??? Anyone try these

Found a great deal on a used set of wheels that are 225/40/18 which look great! A little skeptical on the fitment whether it may rub or not but nothing spacers can’t fix I hope lol

anyone have pics or any advice on fitting 225’s on the mini?

I had run 215/35/18 with +42. 15mm spacer in the rear and 5 mm spacer in the front. I had 0 running and zero issues with those specs.

I run 225/45/17 with no problems with no spacers. With the right camber setting it should not be any problem.

I actually wanted to update this thread in case anyone would want to see if 225 40 18 would work and here’s the shpeel

It actually came out to be that the wheels I was looking at were 225 45 18 so a tad taller than what I was expecting but I purchased regardless since I literally fell in love with the way they looked on the car! Anyways I took them home and tried them on but unfortunately they rub quite a lot in the rears. I had been running the wheels for some time until recently the tread got really low in the rears and actually started to leak. Mind you the set was staggered so the rears were the 45 while the fronts were 40. Fronts did not AT ALL rub. Not once. So I took this opportunity to test the size I thought would be perfect which is 225 40 18 and it is about 98% perfect. On extremely harsh bumps and I mean harsh bumps in the road to where your head would hit the ceiling, that’s when the wheels would rub, besides that it does not, It clicked with me mid ride in the car that I don’t hear any rubbing. Felt like a Mercedes all of a sudden. I believe the offset on these wheels is either a 38 or a 45. I keep getting confused with the sparcos I have (16” 38ET) and these (XXR006 18” 45ET ). But if anyone is seriously interested I can tell them what it is exactly. I have a gut feeling it is somewhere around the 40’s on the offset.

All in all, 225 40 18 will fit first generation mini cooper as long as the offset is correct. Good luck!

By the way, I am running no spacers at all. Stock suspension. Everything in this car is stock besides cosmetic and wheels (at this point in its life)
