FOB Programming

I have an 02 Justa (pre-facelift) that only has a valet key. I’ve contacted the dealer and they can supply me with a 2-button FOB for an acceptable price.

I got one from this dealer for my 06 and was able to ‘program’ my 3-button fob to the car with supplied instructions.

the dealer has changed hands and now they are telling me that I need a $199 dealer visit to program the key to the car.

Does anyone know if the 2-button Fob can be adapted to the car without a dealer visit?

The pre-facelift minis don't have a simple procedure like the facelift models do for programming the keyless entry. However, I was able to program the keyless entry on my 2002 using my Autel MK808 scanner and it can also be done using DIS. To decode, I followed the procedure from the link below. Inside the key on the PCB, there's a white label with a six digit code printed in black letters. That's what the link is referring to and how you decode it. Keep in mind, I still had to get the key cut and the immobilizer programmed afterward, so the keyless entry is only part of the equation.
