Ok so I'm at the dealership writing my name on the dotted line for my new mini s and the dealer tells me that they will call me in 6 to 8 months for me to come and order my car. Then after I order my car it will be another 8 weeks till my car comes in. Does this sound about normal? Or is this just related to my dealer Ralph Schomp in Denver. They tell me that they only get an alotted amount of cars per month, and this is why the wait is so long. :???:

I am in Colorado and am buying my new MINI from Roadshow MINI in Memphis Tennessee. I ended up getting a MINI that had been ordered but the buyer backed out right after it was built. 10 months is a LONG time to wait, as you will not have a MINI for this next summer.

I am less than a week away from picking mine up and I am about to explode. Add another 8 months and I don't think I could make it, honestly!

I encourage you to check out the Dealer Rating System and call around the country to see if you can't get your MINI before another winter comes.

Dorian at Roadshow has been awesome and made my out--of-state sale incredibly easy.

I had sign up on a 3 months waiting list just to place an order and another 3 months of waiting before I get the car. After two weeks of waiting I quickly lost patience and decided to hunt down the MINI of my dream all across the country. Within two weeks I sealed the deal in Fla. and got my MINI days later. I found it in Yahoo!. You can do the same by using the internet, ebay, yahoo.
Good luck hunting for your MINI.

Yes, this is happening around the US. I've been on the waiting list at MINI North Scottsdate since May 02 timeframe. Though I'd have to wait for at least a year maybe 1.5 years. With the downturn in the economy, many people dropped off the list and I just placed my order last week. So it took me 7 months to order my MCS, no prob, I expected to wait over a year just to place the order. Now my MCS is coming closer. I also heard that MINI is scaling back delivery quantities of MCS to the US. Rumor? Not sure. On a side note, I know you can walk into North Scottsdale and order an MC right away (used to be a year's wait on the list for it too about 7 months ago).

Enjoy the wait if the MCS is what you want. Or call around to the different dealers to find the shortest waiting list to order an MCS. Your choice. Anyways, have fun in whatever you choose to do.

There's no way I'd wait any more than 3 months for a car. especially one that I know is super fun to drive as the new MINI's are. I waited just a tad over 3 months for my MCS. No waiting list. Just took that long to have the order processed and the car shipped out to me. Even that was nuts waiting for. I'd definitely crack after 3 months of waiting. Unless you have a super hotrod car in the mean to play with and satisfy your cravings for either speed, style, or both.
Definitely search around. Waiting almost a year for a car is ridiculous.
I'm starting to think that's the main reason why the Americans here are getting more promo items in the mail than us Canadians. We don't have to wait as long up here. Guess they firgured if you're waiting 8 months for the thing, they'd better send some stuff to keep you from either banging your head against the wall, or bailing on the order all together.
Then there's the flip side. They do say that patience makes you a better person. Adds character and such. Maybe not something you want to believe or hear because you're stuck waiting, and I'm not. But it's true.
Good luck out there. Hunt around for something better than waiting that long. Happy hunting.
Cheers,

Patience might help your character, but it will never make up for a lost summer of driving an ordinary car. If I were in the market for a MINI, I would call every single dealer in the country and keep at it until I had my MINI. Not a terrible idea to get yourself on a waiting list, but I would keep looking regardless.
