To those of you who have power steering issues, Mini has a recall on them. I just found out because I went in for a new key fob program, and they mentioned that I have 3 recalls that have never been done on my 2003 JCW. So looks like I will be getting a new power steering pump, even though the last owner said it had been replaced, I will ask for the old one back. I have been reading alot of owners having issues with the power steering, so I thought this may help some. The recall was issued in 2015. You can do a VIN recall search if you are unsure if has been done or not on the MINI website.

Also Crank case breather is a recall.

did you do a search prior to going? I don't think mine pops up when I look for it but think it should be in the recall group.

 

I did not know about the recall until I was at the dealer when they told me. I did a search when I got home and it came up. I have yet to take it in, they are ordering the parts and then I can make appt.

you can also call the dealer and give them your VIN to ask.

 

I'm fairly certain I've done both (mine's an '04) but nothing came up. I ended up buying the electronics to refresh the pump at some point but it hasn't failed yet so figured maybe mine was taken care of at some point.

+1^^ Then you have to call and ask the MINI dealership if they can do those. I know some are time sensitive. The P/S pump they looked at mine and then made sure I had the most up to date part, which i did so they just inspected and it was done.
