Removing a Powerchips tune

I recently purchased a 2003 MCS with a Powerchips tune, that I believe is almost as old as the car. I’m not too fond of the way the car is running, so I’d like to either swap the tune out for an RMW tune, or reset it back to the factory tune.

It doesn’t seem like Powerchips is still producing tunes, so I’m not sure what process they used and how it can be reversed. The mini dealership said they could give it a shot, but there’s a small chance they could brick the ECU. Not very confidence Inspiring. Anyone have any experience with moving on from powerchip tunes in the past?

Thanks!

First off, welcome to the forum with that being your very first post!

I'd suggest checking with Adrian (@adriancl) whom does remote tunes from Romania while he "drives" your laptop desktop connected to OBD port using adapters purchased from Amazon/eBay in advance. My own R53 was modded when new but the ECU remained in OEM config when Adrian tuned mine. Objective (after installing 380cc injectors to better complement other engine mods) was for efficiency vs peak power for streets/hwys vs track usage. Lots of satisfied customers here on NAM as well as UK FB forums...

absolutely I'd go adriancl over wmw..no offense to wmw but adriancl is an absolute charm to work with and he's made power and better driviability on " tuned" cars already.. there's been dyno proof too.. he made 18hp and tq about more on a car that had a dinan tune..
I suggest looking around more
