Update: we had a wierd electrical problem that had it confined to garage for last couple of months.

basically at 6300 everything would go bonkers, all the warning lights would come on etc etc. and after the garage door incident if started happening about 3000-3500 rpm’s making it nearly unusable.

it felt like EMF interference so UN installed the gauge and all the wiring. Nope.

ininstalled the iPod adapter again. Nope.

finalyl I figured it had to be the alternator, maybe the rectifier was failing at high rpm amd we were getting sqaurewave imposed on the voltage or something.


today it was finally in the low 60s, so we did partial FES and swapped one of the old alternators on…

oops, wrong one that was my dead OEM last year. .

grabbed the other uglier one, and that one was the OEM one from the old engine.

Problem solved.

so yeah it was this “reman” parts store alternator the donor engine had on it that was the cause of the issue.


Left it in partial FES, so we can swap the DV over from the old engine amd get more than 10 lbs of boost next weekend.

Never done one of those. Guess we’ll have some YouTubing to do!
