Help! (clutch issue)

Upgrading transmission in my 02 Cooper (5 speed to 6 speed).Car has been down for a few weeks after I removed tranny and flywheel. Ordered and received new clutch/flywheel kit and new clutch disc does not have any indication of installation direction ("gearbox side") and I have no memory of orientation of old one. Is there a way to identify the correct direction on the new one? One side has everything pretty much flush with the friction material, the other has spring plates and center raised above friction material.

Google images or check your original friction plate for markings

Google images seem to confirm my memory of the same job, springs away from flywheel, but I couldn't 100% garuntee. Did you do the crank seal behind the flywheel at the same time? Worth doing now

YouTube might help I try to watch numerous videos and find the general concensus on doing the job
