DIY tensioner upgrade for free

This belt tensioner has just under 6,000 miles on it and the damper gromets are shot. Rummaging around the garage I discovered that 1/2" PEX tubing is an exact replacement, good thing I happen to have a few miles of the stuff. Add a couple nice grade 8 washers and voila! Much better.

Cruddy rubber grommets shot in a few months.

Pfffaaatttt junk

PEX fits perfect

ready to assemble

Much better.
