Merc gets a better iPod Adapter!

Apple anounced in their keynote today that they are expanding its Ipod and vehicle intergration project.

Since BMW was the first and this is a big interest to most Ipod Adapter owners i thought i would post it here in MINI talk as its more news than just something to with Audio.

Well it looks like the Mercedes version will blow away what BMW owners are getting.

Now here is something all BMW and MINI owner will swoon over and be mighty angry that they don't get with their pricey Ipod adapters:

The iPod Integration Kit for Mercedes-Benz will debut this April in the US with the newly redesigned 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class, and for most other 2005 and 2006 models later this year. Mercedes-Benz is the first automaker to provide full iPod music navigation for drivers to listen to their entire iPod music collection through the Mercedes-Benz audio system, as well as select their music using artist, album or playlist with the multifunction controls on the steering wheel and the integrated multifunction display on their instrument cluster.
Discuss!

This makes no sense to me. Mercedes can get track/artist info on their consoles and we can't even get our head units to display this info? I swear there is a conspiracy going on here to **** off the BMW/Mini driving public.

Good for them though, at least someone is getting thrown a bone.

Well people in numbers have power, and MINI/BMW has shown they will listen to us if we make enough noise......

I don't understand why everybody's getting their panties in a bunch. We don't even have a multi-function display large enough on our instrument cluster to display anything meaningful from an iPod and as for the MFSW controls, there's already a solution for that, just not through BMW.

Actually the Radio can scroll all the information we need, BMW just decides not to add that function.....

I believe the new ICE Link plus from Denison will support track text on the HU. There was a blurb on motoringfile.com stating buyers of the new ICE Link plus will be given the updated firmware when available.

This is route I am taking.
