2003 mcs not shifting into 5th or 6th gear.

Hi everyone, I recently purchased a 2003 mcs that needed the clutch slave cylinder bled. The previous owner replaced the clutch and the left shift cable. The problem is now that the transmission does not shift into 5th or 6th gear by using the gear shift. You can manually move the linkage on the transmission and make it shift though. The shifter has play side to side so originally I thought it was the shift cables and the bushings were wore but they look fine and have no play. Next thing to do is to remove the shift box and look for damage there. Anyone have any ideas as to what it could possibly be?

I just had to rig the bushing underneath my shifter because it wasn't allowing me to go into 5th and 6th gear it is the white bushing if you open up the shifter move it into reverse and see if that thing pops up if it does it's broke I just rigged some JB weld that mine to hold it down in the meantime until I can find a new one

Is it the white bushing on the left side under the shift boot? If it is its not moving and is not broken.... I guess I have to drop the exhaust and pull the cover on the shifter housing....
