Can I do a macgyiver this?

I have this CTEK battery tender and I want to attach it battery terminals on my MC40, but as it is it will not work. It needs the alligator clips as my other CTEK unit has. The first picture is what I have to work with and the bottom picture is the adapter I would have to purchase but I am hoping to just modify what I have.

I have a feeling not, because this CTEK unit is meant to plug into a cigarette lighter.

Just cut the ring adapters off and install the clamps, should not be that big of a deal.

Then what do you do with the other end? It looks like it plugs into something but it doesn't plug into the CTEK unit.
See the picture of my unit.

Put the adapter onto the battery with the clamps, plug the red end of the charger into the lighter part that you just put into the battery, plug the electrical end into the wall. Way too easy.

Went to AutoZone to get that cable and it works just fine. I was hoping I could do something with the cable with the eyelets - looks like it's not usable for this application.
