My key fob is inop, I installed a new battery and tried to reprogram but still nothing. I see there are 2 frequencies for a 2003 on eBay. One is 433 MHZ and the other is 315 MHZ. Does anybody know the correct one so I can try and get the remote entry working.

 

I found out that the receiver is behind the clock and it’s a 315 MHz.
I tried sticking the remote close to the receiver to see if that might make it work, no luck. Is there a way to see if the car side of the system is working and I just have a bad fob?

 

If you take the circuit board out of the key fob and turn it over to the side with the microswitches, there is an LED mounted on the board that will come on when you press one of the switches.

You can’t see the LED when the board is still in the case.

If the LED doesn’t light when you press a switch, the key fob is the problem. If it does light, it either lost it’s programming or the trouble is in the car.

The LED on the FOB is working so I guess the issue is in the car. I tried to re-pair the key with the car and also no luck. I am guessing the receiver is probably toast, I have read they are a weak point. I will remove the receiver and try to clean it if can be cleaned. More troubleshooting!!
