I just installed a TVS900 on my 2004 S model. Every went well until test drive. I was taking it easy to let the new Quaife LSD get oiled up. The car runs great under 3000 rpm. When full throttle is applied the battery light comes on. Turns out the alternator was bad. Now on my third alternator. I added a wide band for fuel and air gauge. I see there is a high amp alternator out there with a 250 amp out put. Does anyone have any suggestions. The car is super fast now but keep burning up alternators. TVS900 has a electric water pump. TVS900 with Airtech Intercooler. No more plastic intake tube.
I too am curious about the alternator and the thought behind using a higher amperage unit.
the only additional draw with the TVS should be the water pump, and that should work just fine with the OEM alternator output capabilities.
Plus, Mini's in general are very amperage finicky, you didn't by any chance remove and forget to reattach the ground strap properly? Just a thought.
Other than that, the only thing that should have changed would be the wiring of the water pump itself, is it connected through a relay or directly to a keyed power supply?
