If you're so concerned about it being a chick car, or a chick color... just get a sticker that says "I Kiss Girls" and stick it on the car... Done and Done!

BWAAAAH AHAHA AHAHAHAH ROTFL..
But seriously... It depends on how you hook it up.. If you get white roof it may be a little chick like but with black and the right wheels you could "butch" it up

If it's a matter of choosing between Hyper and Purple Haze, I'd go Haze, looks way better.

But if you wanna do it right, get British Racing Green.

Wikipedia says: "Purple sometimes symbolizes royalty, dating back to Roman times, when clothing dyed with Tyrian purple was limited to the upper classes." "In the United States military, purple refers to programs or assignments that are "joint", i.e. are not confined to a single service such as the Army or Navy but apply to the entire defense establishment." For instance, Operation Purple Dragon.

Oddly enough, Wikipedia doesn't mention anything about purple being a "chick" color. Gosh, it seems that instead it's not only regal, but manly.

I was going to order an '04, until my MA pulled out the color choices that were coming in '05... When I saw the Purple Haze that was it I chose to wait until it was available. I'll be picking up my PH/B with Black stripes very soon. It's supposed to be at the dealer tomorrow. If PH is the color that you keep being drawn to, go for it. Your MINI just might not feel right if the color isn't right.

Do you look good in a pink suit? Then perhaps purple is a color for you.
Some guys look good, some just don't fit in. I think it's something like
that...

I think that sticker " I kiss girls" originated as a girls sticker......

That's exactly how I felt about Hyper Blue!! Last May I was going to order an 04, but when I found out about HB I decided to wait. They flip-flopped for awhile on availabilty which freaked me out, but in the end I picked up my HB/B last Aug. Interestingly, I didn't want Indi Blue at all, my original choice was Chili Red/white, but I wasn't 100% with it, I just didn't want any of the other colors . I'm extremely pleased with Hyper Blue.

i find this to be a very interesting thread! while i have not gone back to the beginning... just going from the title of the thread - i have to tell you that it is certainly not a chick color! i thought that it was, and i'm a chick, and i drive a PH/B MCS. since the day i got my MINI, i have constantly been amazed at how many men compliment the color! driving a MINI causes so much attention! i am yet to see another PH on the road, can't wait for the day! in all honesty, from my personal experience... i have been convinced by males on the street that it's not a chick color at all! i truly thought purple of any kind would be a chick color. but there is never a day i leave home when at least one non-chick compliments the color of my MINI.

definitely check out the PH in person before you order it! it looks completely different in any type of light. i've heard lots of people say that it looks like blue, but i swear to you - it does not! it's the most difficult color to photograph. i've seen and taken a million pics of it, and i am yet to find any that could accurately reflect the true color the way it looks in person. that's probably because even just the angle of viewing makes it look different.

happy motoring!

-edit - i also wanted to add that the bonnet stripes make a HUGE difference! my original MINI did not have them. my current MINI is an ENTIRELY different car, due to both the stripes and the chrome. the black stripes with white contrasting edges look (IMHO) awesome with the chrome grill!

How Many Purple Hazers out there?

This was a fun thread to read as a proud new PH owner who feels that PH is underappreciated. How many Purple Haze owners are out there?

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Purple Haze MCS. (or as the tag under the hood says "Black Eye Purple Metallic") I didn't even consider any other color.

As soon as I saw it in person, there was no other choice.

Since this is an opinion thread (and an interesting one), I'll opine. I'm old enough to remember the "Moby Grape" and Chartruse MOPARS from 1970 and the Orange Judge from the same time period. At the time, I thought, "Man, that's just WRONG". Now those colors bring a premium over a more staid color...go figure. Times change but I apparently haven't...It still looks wrong to me...sort of indistinct in the sunlight (sor of like 'cool blue') and not a "car" color....just me I guess.

I will mention one thing though. Way back in the way back, I bought a 1967 Beetle convert that had been repainted a color between pink and purple with a white top. I said it was purple but...maybe not. Anyhow, you can get away with any color in a '67 Beetle convert....BUT I had it repainted Hunter Green as soon as I could raise the cash.

The moral? Not one I guess, except you're entitled to make your own choices (and mistakes). As far as resale, I'd think that a more "normal" color will have a wider audience.

Cheers from the north side of 50.

Purple is the color for Royalty. Look at the robes of the Roman senators. Anybody wanna call Julius Caesar & Co a Chick?

Black-eye Purple/Purple Haze is a great color. I've been stopped on the road, parking lots etc etc by lots of girls asking me about my car It's a chick magnet.

Fortunately, my wife likes the color too. I just wished silver / grey stripes were available at the time. White is too contrasty and black gets hidden away as BEP/PH is quite dark a color as it is. But silver would be awesome.

If you're worried that some of your friends think you're not masculine enough by your taste in colors, maybe you should reconsider your taste in friends.

Do you think "Jimi" had any problems getting with any 'chicks'?

Purple Haze, pure white or whatever, a legend lost in time. Best dressed rocker of the whole bunch, I don't think the right color of his outside togs mattered one damn to anyone, or any woman out there either...

Oh wait a minute.. this is is about MINIS, the car, I digressed into fond remembrances of a bygone era. Back NOW...

Moby Grape was a grand band that crashed and burned when their resident genius went off on a 30 year mental illness breakdown. I'll bet MOPAR never paid a dime for ripping off the name. He, Skip Spence, died homeless and broke in Calif. in the 1990's, they just re-released a compilation of their work, Legendary Grape, bought it on I-Tunes for ten bucks..."Nighttime Rider...Bitter Wind in Tanganika....

Just the mention of the word Purple Haze and it's old flash.. WHOOPS, I mean memory time

Purple haze is my least favorite MINI color. I even like Solid Gold better.

I think being purple would also hurt the resale value, at least in most locations.

So sad that you feel that way, but on a happy note, the fact that they can be so personalized to each person's taste is what makes MINIs great. They wouldn't be great if everyone agreed on them. They would be bbbllllaaaandd. I see MINIs that I would never personally buy or create but I can respect that someone else thinks that they are perfect.

I think your car looks great, especially with the checkered stripes! Now you just need the checkered mirror caps
