My starter decided not to work recently, after some troubleshooting to rule out other issues I took the starter off. This is what I found
Whatever those pieces are, they don't seem to be part of the starter. Has anybody seen this before? This is the first starter I've replaced a starter on any car, when I tilt it back and forth I can hear\feel something inside it moving. Is that normal?
That piece was in the hole after I took the starter out, I used a magnet to see if there's anything else in there. I was able to start the car with a clutch dump a few times and it drives\feels normal, can those pieces be from the dual mass or the throwout bearing? I'm waiting for a new starter to be delivered, no stores around me had one in stock.
