R50/53 engine mis fire issue
Have you checked that the little hose that connects to the supercherger, just under the intercooler on the left hand side, is disconnected. mine would come off every now and again and cause this code and others to appear. i recently zip tied it in place so it wont come off again.
Car is now at a shop, I've spent to much time and money chasing a ghost. waiting for their diagnostics.
I read a similar issues in another board. Guy was having some issues with his mini. Between 2 an 3000 rpm. His engine would stumble. He threw a slew of parts at it. He checked his fuel rail pressure was low. After fiddling with it some more. Turned out to be the pressure regulator on the fuel filter housing. So he swapped outcthe filter housing an he stated it felt like a new car.
ran great for almost a year then out of the blue started running rough.

Hello all,
I am pleased to inform you all the Mini is fixed! After months of frustrating troubleshooting in the dark the engine misfire has been solved. Before I reveal the fix just let me thank those that tried to help and damn the shops that gladly took my money claiming they knew mini's but didn't know poop. I took the mini to a dealer and within seconds the tech spotted the issue...... the aftermarket COIL was incorrect. The tech pointed out that Mini and Dodge Neon can use the same coil, however the coil is made for a Neon and causes WAIT FOR IT …… a misfire on a stock Mini. My original misfire was a bad coil and in trouble shooting the cause I actually took the correct steps. 1. plugs 2. wires 3. coil. the problem being I opted for the "performance" coil instead of a OEM style. I emailed the company that sold me the coil and they never answered my request for a return and refund. The dealer wanted $600.00 for wires, plugs and a coil, plus 2 hr book time, I changed the coil and wires in their parking lot in less than 5 min and was zooming down the road trouble free. Lesson learned.
