Just did a brake line replacement job on my R53, all rubber lines and rear steel. Looked for a few posts on how to do it, here’s what I did.. Removed drivers side rear line in one piece, passenger in 2 pieces. Used pre made brake lines from ECS . Zip tied on new line to original line as I was bending it, got a very good match to original. Passenger side bent up line until it went over muffler, the left the rest straight since you have to fish it around fuel lines and other components, much harder but can bend the rear of that side slowly as you fish it through,
connect the rear then work the front. Hope this helps anyone attempting this! Worked for me!-E
if I ever have to do this I will make lines, and route the line up around the tank, such a pain in the behind
why did mini use different size fittings on each end of the long lines ?!!? makes building them harder than it needs to be, and also results in extra trips to the store :(
I had to do this. I used cuprinol / copper-nickel. Never rusts. Older European cars used this. Volvo 200 series for example. American Grease Stick is who I used / available at Advance Auto. Excellent product.
not clear on why they used different sized fittings. A pain, but that is what they did.
Great idea to use zip ties to keep the new and old together. I didn't think to do this when I changed out one of the brake lines. on my son's car Had to keep lining it up to get it right which wasn't easy since its 3D. I also used the same tool to bend.
