chitty chitty bang bang

I have a new rattle that has me.............RATTLED! It seems to be coming from the rear bumper cover, but from inside the car it's really hard to tell.there are some sheets of what look like corrugated aluminum foil that protect the bumper cover from the heat of the exhaust and nearly as I can tell, the noise is from these things hitting the plastic bumper cover when I go over the slightest bumps (worst on the passenger side).Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to make it stop.I'm going out of my mind trying to trouble shoot this one.I had a friend at a local garage put it up on his lift yesterday and I had a really good look underneath, but there is nothing that shouts"oh.....there's the problem!" HEEEELP!

Not to be questionable, but do check a couple of things. One being the license plate and the other being the rear hatch.

Now, the area you are talking about. Check to make sure the rear heat shield mounting bolt is in place. This id right next to the passenger side exhaust tip. You have to lay under the car, or bend down real far to check it and it's rather small.

Now check what it most likely might be and that's the two outside mounting areas. I'm not sure how these are attached as my are also missing, but by the looks of it they were most likely the plastic push-in rivet screws. These mounting location can be found on the outboard side of each of the rear (fake) vents. Again to see these you need to be under the car, or possibly looking up with your head down by the back of the rear tire, looking back into the bumper. Stock exhaust makes this harder to do because of it's size.

You will see where there is a place that attaches the bumper cover to the bumper with the heat shield sandwiched between the two. If you have two empty holes, then like me, your missing what was there, or supposed to be there to attach it all together.

Most likely this won’t help and like me, the search will continue.
