R50/53 Seat Heater Element
Seat Heater Element
I am installing seat heaters into my R53. I dropped off the worn heated seats to the upholstery shop to have them moved into my good seats.
He called today and said the back heater is glued to the back cushion and I should buy a new one.
problem is I can’t find a part number or place to buy them.
Anyone know of a source of supply for them?
If I can find them may have to recover the old seats.

check realoem.com for the part number
I don't think that the heater elements themselves are available, you must buy the entire cushion which is mega bucks $$$
I have no direct experience but I've investigated because I plan on installing aftermarket seats at some point and I absolutely love the bun warmers --- came from the factory on my car and they work brilliantly in my opinion so of course I'd want to transfer them but the bugbear is that they're embedded in the foam...

Those images were found in this thread which also offers a warning on potential problems as well:

The later R56 design used more easily replaceable pads:

I have read of people using the easily-found universal style pads,
like explained here:

Seems a good solution.
