I got in my mini and noticed that between lunch and leaving for work my mirror was suddenly blurry in an oval, see pic? What is going on?

 

Looks like the LCD panel is failing on the auto dimming mirror. The liquid eventually leaks out of the mirror housing and stains whatever it drips on.

There's a recent post over on the UK forum on retrofitting these and info on the possibility of using a 2nd gen mirror since they are supposed to be cheaper and easier to find.

 

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Mine is doing the same. Been looking a while for a replacement

 

does anyone have a recommendation on a cheap replacement mirror? I don't need the digital display component.

 

I really do not like auto-dimming mirrors. Old fashioned flip-switch is much better IMO.

Check on ebay for a used non-dimming version...
