Seat swap wiring help

I just purchased my first mini this week and in the process of going through and checking things over really well I noticed that the airbag light was on. A quick search led me to checking the wiring for the occupancy sensor and come to find out that my car has r56 seats swapped in.

I need to repair some of the wiring like for the airbag as it was cut back really short but thats not my biggest issue.

My biggest issue is getting a definite answer on the occupancy sensor wiring. I have the seat side of the connector for the r56 and from looking at the wires the colors seem to match the r53 harness colors. So would it be safe to say that I can wire the seat to the car and assuming the sensor is good I'll be able to clear the light and it stay off?

I'll try and post some pics of the current mess but if that doesn't work ill post a link to Dropbox.

The first link is to the passenger seat which started all this

The second link is to the driver side which is obviously much easier to figure out.

I highly recommend getting a Bentley repair manual. PDF copies or books are available on eBay for about $20 or so.

The schematics alone are worth it.

Mouser Electronics carries a lot of automotive connectors, if you don’t want to butcher the wiring harness.
