about to buy an 02 Mini S

Greetings all. Like the title says, I am planning on buying an 02 S from a wholesaler that I found online. The car is very clean with 25k miles. My only concern is that the airbag light is on. I have the carFax on the vehicle but it looks good (no accidents). I've seen that there is an issue of airbag lights coming on due to a bad seat sensor (or someting like that).

I'm just looking for some assurance from my upcoming mini family that I shouldn't worry. I have a copy of the carfax here if anyone feels like looking
www.josephweiss.com/farfax.htm

I'm planning on taking the car into a local mini dealership right after I pick it up and have them give it a look over and do any recall's that apply
(here's a link I found... http://www.alldata.com/TSB/85/02850247.html )

Thanks all and Merry xmas
Joe

The vehicle should still be under warranty. Take it to the dealer and have them look at it before you buy it. It may be a recall issue, but before you drop the money on it, make sure everything is OK.

If you don't mind me being nosy, how mush is the wholesaler asking?

Definitely do a pre-purchase inspection with a dealer before purchasing it. A clean Carfax doesn't mean much. My wife crunched one of our cars to the tune of $11K and it had a clean Carfax when I sold it (I did tell the buyer it had been crunched and repaired).

Ciao,

Hey Joew,

Much is written about pre-purchase cautions, but I agree with what has been said; get it to a dealer and have it looked at. In fact if you can get under the car for a look yourself all the better. I have mixed feelings about Carfax having heard several different stories. It seems like no news can be good news except what if they have missed something?? Or what if what is posted is wrong? There is still no substitute for a thorough test drive and a good inspection by someone that knows the car. BTW suggest you have someone else drive it too while you follow to see if it tracks straight and sits right. They are great cars, but buy carefully and get a good one!!.........................mgg (MTR ON)

Ciao,
I agree that Carfax is no guarantee of accident damage. Once ANY vehicle has been repaired for accident damage it is never the same again. I think $17.5 or so would be a fair price for a 2002 MCS. What price is the "wholesaler" offering you?
