Alta 5% alternator pulley?

Hello does anyone have the Alta under drive alternator pulley laying around that you don’t need. I know they’ve been out of production for some time but need one now.

Just curious. What does an underdrive alternator pulley accomplish?

Nothing for performance,I'm using a 2% OD crank pulley and a 16% UD SC pulley and I'm overcharging the alternator. I need to slow it down in high RPMs.

The KAVS Motorsport +5% and +10% Alternator Pulley is designed to reduce the speed of the alternator when other engine modifications mean it would be spinning faster.

Much like it is a good idea to fit a KAVS Motorsport Enlarged Crank Pulley to your engine when you install a smaller supercharger pulley (available from KAVS Motorsport in various sizes), fitting our enlarged Alternator Pulley will mean that the alternator will not have to work as hard when Enlarged Crank Pulleys and smaller supercharger pulleys are installed.

The benefits include:

Increased life of your alternator
More BHP; because the design of the pulley allows the belt to work more efficiently with reduced stress
Allows you to run a higher rev limit for more performance

Installation is made easier by baking the pulley in the oven at 120C for approx 10 minutes, then fitting straight on whilst hot.

If you have overcharging issue and the alternator light is on you need to fix that as you have something else wrong.
We've installed hundreds of 2% larger crank pulleys and none of them have charging issues. That is why Craven and Alta don't make them anymore as the market didn't need it and people didn't buy. Plus it's not near as easy to install as a crank or supercharger pulley.

I believe you need a special tool/puller for this right?

Way I’ve never had a alternator light come on I just loose all the gauges at high RPM. I messaged you about this when I bought my ATI from you. Here’s the weird scoop after installing the ATI 2% at high rpms all the gauges would drop out so I decided to have the alternator checked and they said it needed a new voltage regulator so had them rebuild the non oem alternator.. ok here’s the weird part I installed the rebuild alternator and as soon as I turned the key the power steering pump started up (never done that before) took the car for a drive and spun up to redline with no problem with the gauges dropping g out but now the ps pump runs non stop? I lived with this through the winter months and spring time the power steering pump went out probably due to running non stop with the key on. Did some checking and the trigger wire for the ps pump comes from the alternator so took it back to the shop and they checked it and said it’s correct?? So after installing a new ps pump ( not cheap) I bought a reman alternator from Advanced and stopped the steering pump running non stop but now the gauges drop out again and high rpm???

I also spoke with a couple guys in the r53 community and they said the electrics is very finicky in the r53 and told me you either need to run a larger pulley to slow the alternator down or replace the voltage regulator with a “Mini” oem one.

I don't know who said that, but I've been working on MINIs for the last 18yrs and that's just not true about needing a larger pulley. If it was we would make it and put them on as I'm all for selling more parts, it's my business.
From reading what you have done it sounds like you need an original MINI alternator rather than a reman. As we see all kinds of problems with remans or aftermarket alternators and don't use them in our shop just for the reliability issues.

That makes sense, how can I tell a real Mini alternator? Is it a Bosch, Denso ect? Can I put a Mini regulator in my non oem alternator? Thanks for your help I really appreciate it!
