Crank pulley owners
Crank pulley owners
It's been a year since the install... and i hve always been a mixed player, but since i got it in, i didnt let it worry me.... till a strange high pitched whine started when the A/C is on, on boiling hot days, i didnt think much of it at the time, but a friend of mine who has a MC got his alternator replaced under warranty and it was making the exact same sound, in the same situation
finally had a chance to take it in, and i made the note to the dealer, needless to say, the alternator is needing a replacement.... at 900 bucks cdn!
so the summary of this story... has anyone ran into this problem? i have a alta 15% supercharger pulley, and a 2% crank pulley also from alta. I've wanted to add the alternator pulley by alta for ages, but been puttin it off, so have i overrun the alternator?

I had your same pulley combo until I intalled the 5% alternator 3 months ago. Just a heads up, you can (and must) use a stock sized belt (but not the gatorback, its a tiny bit longer and caused some belt rubbing). The stock belt will just barely fit my 2%crank/15%sc/5%alternator combo. I didnt notice any bad effects from adding the 5%alternator, battery charges fine, etc. Good luck!
let me see if i understand this,if i have an after market crank pulley and an after market sc pulley plus an alternator pulley i can't use a gatorbelt????
is this correct?belt rubbing where?maybe i'm tired i just don't get it. could you explain some more, thx

turbo, a "stock" size gatorback is not stock size, its actually 1390mm, a tiny bit longer than the real stock belt which is 1388mm. Not much but in my particular situation it might have been the cause of rubbing between my crank, tensioner and sc pullies. There was a whole bunch of belt shavings in the crevices of my tensioner. When i took off the belt, it had grooves on the back of it,
what i ended up doing was going with a stock belt, so far everything is good, and its a hell of a lot quieter than the gatorback.
it might end up being different for you, but i had the 2% crank and 15%sc before adding the alternator pulley, similar to your setup. all im saying is if you get that alternator pulley, choose the belt size carefully.
