Standing Lights will not turn off

Good Morning! Brand new issue has appeared on my 2005 MCS R53. The left side standing lights will not turn off, even when the car ignition is off (car not running). I heard that these lights are a feature used in Europe and are usually activated via the turn signal when the car is off. This feature works perfectly on the right side of the car but these lights are "stuck" lit up on the left (drivers) side. Of course, if I remove the cable from the negative battery post, the lights go out but as soon as I put it back, lights come back on.

Things I have tried:

- Centering the turn signal switch, no luck
- Checked fuses: Surprisingly enough, a few looked like they had burn marks but none seemed burnt through. Replaced them anyway. Afterwards, I tested and noticed that turn signals, both left and right work. All turn signal lights light up EXCEPT the small one between the drivers door and fender next to the S logo (side lamp?). Guessing that is the bulb.
- Drive car to the store and back, thinking MAYBE just a drive cycle might have an effect. Noticed on the way that the left turn signal lights don't work (also fast flash on the dash signal indicator). Odd, as they worked literally 10 minutes prior. Not sure if there is a separate fuse for left and right turn signals or not. I will be checking these fuses today.

I have read that this could be an issue with the BCM (Body control module), the FRM (??) or the Footwall Module.

**** QUESTION***
is the BCM, FRM and the Footwell Module all the same thing or different devices?

In my Mini, the hood release is on the right/passenger side and the fuse box is on the left/drivers side footwell. I couldn't find any video or pictures specific to my make/model bit it seems the R56 I saw that is opposite.

***Question****
Can BCM/FRM/Footwell modules be fixed or do I have to buy new and get reprogrammed?

Something else that just dawned on me: I have other issues that were there when I bought the car back in April: Passenger door will not unlock using the key or the switch on the dashboard. You have to open it from the inside. Also, the key remote doesn't work at all to lock or unlock the car even after replacing the battery. Could all of these issues be related to the bad BCM/FRM/Footwell module?

Sorry this post is so long. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

T

Do the cheap stuff first!

Check which indicator bulbs actually light up, even if they operate incorrectly.
Disconnect the battery overnight.
Replace any dead bulbs.
Reconnect the battery & see if there's any difference.

Key fobs - need to be 'paired' to the car after a fob battery change.

Passenger door - probably a dead lock mechanism - not unusual but fiddly to replace.

'Standing' lights - you might have a bad directional switch - a new one is not outrageous money.

Scroll down to 'Related Threads' below - these are all common problems.

Another blinker problem

Hello all, i have a 2003 base mini cooper r50. So first the rear lights were stuck on from time to time. Then while driving the cars fuel light came on and at the same time the right blinker started blinking and now stays on whenever the ignition is turned I've checked so many things and can't seem to find the problem. The car does leak and the bottom carpets are always full of water after a rain. Is there a relay or a common part that goes bad ?

I would check the BCM in the passenger footwell.

@Bennycov , Water intrusion = I would definitely try to gently pull the front of the headliner down and inspect/clean your drain tubes or see if they have detached and reconnect. There are 2wo at the front, left/right, under the headliner . That is most likely where water is entering the cabin/footwell if you have a sunroof.
