Dismantled the wrong part of my transmission

I took apart the wrong section of my transmission. Does it need a gasket?

There is no gasket between the trans and the engine.

I put all the black bolts in, but what they pinch is what I'm talking about. I think it's called the gear box and the clutch housing. It's in the middle of the transmission and in the middle of this picture.

Hell yeah brother! I watched
and saw at 1:20 he applied RTV to the area I was talking about. I should do that right? I mean I had the gear box off and was prying desperately to get the box off, because I thought that's where the clutch was at.

Lololololol. I'd had trouble with the clutch since I got it. It would always violently rattle the car unless the RPMs were way up in the 3000 even on a flat go. One day I let an ex trucker drive it to tell me what he thinks and he burned the hell out of the clutch. Smoke was rolling out of the engine bay, but after that I had no more problems..... Until now lol.

No place near me as guide tubes, so I'll go to pick n pull while my flywheel is being resurfaced

Hopefully the place you took your flywheel resurfaces it properly. Those flywheels have a slight step to them. If they just grind down the friction surface, and not the step too, your clutch won't engage/disengage properly.

He said he took off .008 and because it was so little he didn't need to take off the outside

The throw out bearing Orielys wants to sell me doesn't have splines like the clutch.

the release bearing won’t be splined exactly like the clutch. It will have splines but they are simply to slide along the input shaft guide tube.

I too used a screwdriver when I changed mine but as a point of reference. If you use the screw method again, you need to run the screw into the part where the little divets run around the perimeter. There is a metal band in there. You put a screw into that, you’ll be able to remove the seal.

Aww man. So from reading it seems like the pressure plate will start away from the flywheel and get closer as I tighten all the way until it touches.

Lmk what y'all think.

Also I never got a confirmation on if I need to reapply RTV to the section midway on the transmission that attaches the gearbox. Shrevmini posted a video that shows a person rebuilding the transmission and he put a liberal amount of RTV on that section. Here's a couple pictures.

Love you guys

Also, that supper hard rear main seal went on fairly easy, but one part of it is further into the engine than the rest. It's flush most of the way around except the side I started on which is a little below the face of the engine.

So at one minute fifteen seconds 1:15 it seems he puts a thick layer of RTV on the transmission clutch housing before bolting the gearbox on.

Can I get a consensus on if it was just RTV?

Based on that video, the area he used the sealant was between the two case halves, not on the bellhousing. As for a sealant, you need one that is obviously impervious to oils and something that doesn’t fully harden. Personally I would use Yamabond 4. That is used to seal the case halves and gearboxes on motorcycles and other power sports toys.
