Bargain $500 Mini- Initial Start Up Question

So in the course of fixing everything I could think of, I've disturbed quite a few systems and the potential for leaks or other issues is always present.

But the exhaust is on and the only thing left to do before noise and smoke is adding coolant.

As the bumper cover isn't on for real yet and the taillights are out I'll have bulb codes [warnings?] out the wazoo.
Will having all this lighting stuff unhooked affect anything else?

And, when all the lighting is hooked up will the bulb warnings/codes just go away? I really would like to start the engine to make sure everything is good just in case I need to fiddle with engine parts before putting the bumper cover etc... on for real.

One other question, does the key fob charge anytime the engine is running or do you have to be driving?

Any advise is welcome,
robj

You should invest in a Mini code reader/reset-er. You WILL need it. If not immediately, immediately after. I assume you will start it on the jack stands to look for leaks. Make sure you bleed the coolant using the bleed valve. Don't forget power steering fluid and to bleed it too. Turn the headlights to off not Auto. Your ambient temp sensor still hooked up? If not you will get codes for that also.

I am sure you thought of all that already.

Oh this is exciting!

And expect to need to change out the key FOB batteries. It is not too hard and cheap insurance.

Steve,
I moved this back to the build thread. Hope you don't mind.

And when they stop charging you either replace the battery or get a new key from Mini. I have had to change out both of my key FOB batteries for my R52. Search this forum and you will see what I mean.
