normal oil temp

I have an 05 JCW with the chrono gauge package. The oil temp sits at the middle at normal speeds but if I run anything like 85+ for more than a few minutes it starts climbing to almost the 3/4 line. I'm guessing these lines are 210 and 250. If that's the case it seems a little excessive. If this is accurate I'm thinking an external oil cooler might be in order. Is there a reputable one and how much does it help?

first...the chrono pack gauges are not all that accurate....there's no sender in the engine for oil temp...the computer is giving you an extrapolated value based on other factors

second...oil temp will rise with more load, speed, & rpm

third...if you want exact temp readings...put a manual gauge in the oil pan and go from there

Good to know. Since the thing runs hot as can be any way I think I'll just order a cooler for it to help. I tend to run 85 to 95 on the highway sometimes for 30 mins or more so it can only help.

I have the Marshall gauges and temp runs about 200 deg. at highway speed.

I've got the OEM auxiliary gauges and the oil temperature reads gets to about 105 Celsius when I've been on the highway for awhile. Done that since I installed them several years ago.

My JCW with the chrono pack runs straight up and down no matter what speed I am at. The auxiliary vdo gauge runs at approx 98 to 100. I live in southwest FLA. so temps get hot and I always watch the temp. Happy so far.
