R50/53 Interchangeability of Late and Early Model Exhausts?
Interchangeability of Late and Early Model Exhausts?
Hi folks, new(ish) R53 owner here with a potentially dumb question.
I have an '02 Cooper S and am trying to take the exhaust back to stock. I've found someone offering an '06 S cat-back exhaust for free, but I see that the mid piping is arranged slightly differently and doesn't mark as fitting on ECS or Real OEM. Does anyone know if a later-model exhaust will fit on an early-model Cooper S?
I took a good look under the car today and didn't see any obvious reason why it wouldn't fit, but I figured you brilliant folks would know if I was missing something!
For reference:
Early model: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/18107523566/ (straighter mid-pipe)
Later model: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/18107547170/
Thanks in advance!

The bend on one of the two muffler hanger studs are different. That applies to both mufflers. Check out a photo of Miltek catback that come with two alternate sets of hangers and you will know what I mean.
