will an '02 MC exhaust fit my '04?

One of my friends has a nice, light stainless cat-back exhaust of some kind (magna - something) that he is willing to sell me for pennies on the dollar, and it's all of 2 months or so old.

However, his car is an early '02 build, and mine is an '04. Are there any possible fitment problems between the model years? Or will it bolt right up without any issues?

Thanks

Actually it depends on when in '04 the car was built.

PocketRocket's picture gives you exactly what to look for though. If your exhaust hangers on the car look like the one in the picture, you've got an late '04 and the '02 exhaust won't fit. The early '04s have hangers to fit the exhaust pipe in this picture and the '02 exhaust should work.

satay-ayam,

If you could get the exhaust super cheap...you could spare some money to fix the hangers on the exhaust. Just take your car to the muffler shop and weld 2 new hangers and that should cost you not more than $40.

I don't know that satay-ayam is asking about the S. The photo is of an S, is it not? You need to make sure that you all are talking about the same model.

Ya, I'm talking about a base Cooper, not an S.

Does that change the answer?
