Electrical gremlins

2004 S. Have a few issues, they may or may not be related.
On the taillamps, what are the bulbs for? My top bulbs do not work on either side. Have verified bulbs good, all others work as below:
Turn signals/hazards both work in the middle bulbs.
Running lights/brake lights work on bottom bulbs (Dual filament)
3rd brake light works fine.

Its just the top bulb on both taillamp I cannot get to do anything.

Also, i have a continuous door chime when I remove the key from the ignition. Like the key is still in and you open the door, it beeps nonstop.

These are the only 2 electrical things I have noticed, but I got the car and only drove it for about a mile before tearing the supercharger off so may be something else I have missed. All other running lights work fine. No weird dash lights/issues. Just the door chime constantly, and the top bulbs not doing anything.

Top bulbs are fog lights. Do you have a fog light toggle in your switch panel? Icon looks like a headlight from the side.

On my early 2002 R53 the top lights are brake lights.
I believe this is a programmable option, but it is also possible to put a jumper on the circuit board - there's another thread here somewhere & an image of how to do it.
If you have the optional rear fog light option with the switch, then they should already work as rear fog lights.
Do you have one or two empty switch locations? - they are for front & rear fog lights.

Try a gentle shot of electronic switch cleaner in the ignition switch & see if the chime goes away.

I'd drive the car for a week or two before you get into serious changes. All MINIs have their little quirks!

Here's the jumper for the rear light circuit board.

Thank you. I KNOW I have one fog light switch, later today I will check and see if i have another. And if I dont will do the jumper mod. And I actually have a bottle of electrical cleaner, did not think to spray it out. Thanks for the quick replies, after work Ill try them out and see what happens!

Okay I only have a front fog light switch, empty place for the rear. So im going to do that jumper trick so they will act with the brake lights.

And for the key chime I did not try electrical cleaner yet, I actually also need a wiper stalk (its broken off at the base) and im not sure if i need the one with hte alarm light or not, so im going to take the colum plastic apart to remove it and get the part number off it and clean the ignition cylinder then.

Wanted to update this, had more time to play with ignition key chime.

It had a aftermarket ignition switch already, so I figured hey these are prone to failure lets get a mini one. I got it replaced, and no change. If i put the key in the ignition, and turn it to acc, then turn it back off and take it out the chime is non stop.

New mini igniton switch, so its not the issue.
The chime stops if I close the door, and only does it with door open, so pretty sure door switch good.

I have electronic cleaned the lock cylinder itself and cleaned it out pretty good, i dont think anything is sticking in it.

What should I look at next, and electrical issue somewhere with the bcm?

Now, for some fun I tried playing with the key while I had the ignition switch dangling, turning it on with a flat head. If I dont have the key in, i can turn the ignition switch to the acc pos and everything comes on fine inside, no door chime. Then I can turn it off, still no chime. BUT if I do have the key in and turn it on, i get hte door chime for a few beeps then it stops (I think this is normal). Then if I turn they key to the off position and remove it (no door chime currently), then turn the igniton switch off, no door chime. it only continues to do it if I remove the key while the door chime is already going off, if that makes sense.

Any help would be appreciated. For background the car has sat for a number of years, I have not seen any evidence of rodent or wire damage anywhere and it was not in terrible shape just lightly mildew/mold inside on the plastics. I have scoured around under the dash a good bit and see nothing obvious or damaged. I am going to take the kick panel plastics off later just to check I think the bcm is behind one of them, and just make sure no signs of water damage.
