What's this ?

OK, I'm replacing all rear control arms and came across this part. It's the box in the middle of the photo with the arm attached to the upper rear control arm, driver side. A quick call to Randy Webb and the answer was given.

Do YOU know what it is?

Either the transferse ODN power coupling to the flux capacitor, or the anti-matter particle injectors?

There's a reason I don't do that much work on my own car!

It's the pitch/yaw sensor for DSC I think...or the sensor to control the aiming of the headlamps

Headlight aiming sensor for the xenons on the right rear. If you dont have xenons, you dont have this part.

There is one on the left front as well. The system averages the readings between the two to determine the loading of the car and adjusts the headlight aiming accordingly. Actually a very sophisticated system for such a dinky car.

The DSC sensor is located behind the parking brake under the center console, ahead of the rear cupholder. Cars without DSC wont have this part.

I ditto the cave dwelling Bear. He must know as its hibernation time and I suspect he's been reading up on his Bentley manual in that secret den of his.

I'm with Greatbear as I have no clue and he speaks with such authority and it makes sense!

So, does anyone have a link to more info on how the DSC sensor works? Just 'cause I'm curios, and have to much time on my hands to read...

Myth Buster Time: It's one of two attitude sensors for the Xenon headlights. The other is in the right front corner.

Methinks I'm being picked on.

I will now go back into hibernation and take my Bentley manual with me.
