Vibration

Hey guys,
I am a new owner 2005 S. Had it for a few weeks and have noticed a vibration around 65-75mph but only when accelerating. Is there an easy way to tell if the Hydraulic motor mount is bad? I though it may the tires but it is only when i am accelerating so I was leaning towards motor mounts. The hydraulic motor looks okay( no fluid around it, still has some "bounce" to it.) Not sure where to start.

Thanks guys

I've got a similar issue, also happens when accelerating between 2k to 3k rpm. I know my engine mounts are worn so I'll be changing them soon.

Also I noticed my axle boots are torn and seem to have thrown grease all over the place so I'm guessing they could be a potential problem..

Can you see fluid leaking out of the engine mount you see when you open the hood? Mine clearly has been leaking for a while (just bought car)

Congrats on the Purchase a your smile machine.

Since it is a 2005 and I ALWAYS assume the previous owner never did maintenance ...

Time to replace ALL the rubber bushings (suspension, and don't forget the strut tower mounts), and mounts ... a great time to double check the ball joints as well, and if your axle boots are bad I would replace the axles ... sure you could just replace the boot, but, chances are the knuckle joints are worn due to lack of proper grease, so in the long run you are better off going new over replacing the boots.

I was telling some just the other day, How I just replaced the leaf spring bushing on my MG Midget, then I remembered I did but it was really 15 years ago, time to reorder them ($16.00 for all of them)

Best of luck.

Motor On!

All the bushings i look at underneath looked almost new. I was planning on slowly replacing them anyway, this just may speed up my process.

Sounds like what I am experiencing......I have a bad cv joint(after 165,000 miles. Go with a better brand cv half shaft or axles (oem or GKN’s) the el cheapo’s have spotty quality.

Update: Got it up on stands and looked at the wheel end. After being able to just push the struts up by hand i though maybe that was the culprit. Replaced those and it drives a lot better. Still has a little vibration. Does anyone have a picture of what a new or at least good hydraulic motor mount looks like installed so i can compare to mine?

How do the cv joints’s feel? Any slop? Just changed mine, what a difference! Smooth as ice!

I never noticed any vibration, I just replaced it because it had obviously leaked fluid everywhere.
