R50/53 Who is selling this car?

I like it, BRG, I like it! Tough though, 'cause the guy can't do math (or foreign exchange, anyway.) The ebay listing was clearly for $5500, which is ~$3700. The GBP9500 is closer to a reasonable $14,000.
Of course you'd also have to ask for the car's passport - I mean this a US spec car owned by a Brit who transported it to Italy - that's quite a pedigree...

There's a lot of this crap going on. The proposal that I posted is almost exactly what was proposed to me in response to an add selling my 2003 MCS (I've got a 2005 on order). The 'interested party' said he was located in Switzerland and used English almost exactly like this guy in Italy. My guess is that there's an organized group of some kind that's doing this. They could be in Europe or anywhere. I only hope that someone (FBI, Interpol, ???) is looking into this kind of stuff.
O.k. this is scary. I was/am looking for a MINI and i noticed one for sale. I looked into it and found one that would fit into my price range. WHOO HOO...lol.. Interesting thing is, was the the seller was in Italy, and was trying to sell it because it wouldn't pass Italy's "smog" or "emission" tests. He wanted to sell the car, plus, have someone pay for shipping. The only reason he sold it on the page i was looking was because he had to put a US state in.
Kinda makes me think.....i mean, his story COULD have been true, BUT, then again, not. HMMMM..........

Coming to a theater near you....."The COOPspiracy"
I most def feel ike this could be the beginning of a Hollywood movie.
It happened again! I was researching a car, and this time the person said that they were in Valencia ,Spain. They said they had to pay off some "loans" or they would lose their house.....sympathy plea maybe..hmmm....
Wanna believe people, but seriously, it's hard to when it sounds fake. Things could be true but, then again, trusting someone enough that you've never met to send a beautiful car, that you've never seen besides pic's, is hard to do. lol
Isn't there somewhere where people can complain about this type of thing. This has to be at least my 2nd to 3rd one spotted sale like this.
most disappointing

Songbird, it wasn't true. I don't believe there is a single country with tougher emissions requirements than the US (and you think someone would check into that before shipping a car overseas!) Are you finding all these on Ebay? Any time a seller admits they're not in the US, cease consideration. Besides, with the current value of the dollar, anyone would be better off selling in their home country vs. the US.
The game is afoot!!!!

No it isnt Ebay. although i think it would be hard to buy a car there for me....trust and everything...books..something small and invaluable...one thing..anything other...no...lol
I have been finding these cars on AutoTrader.com....Not sure if Auto Trader is aware of these people.
But, it sounds like some sort of conspiracy doesn't it? I emailed the seller back and let him know that I find it hard to trust him because this type of "sale" (overseas contracts) are happening more and more, and they seem highly suspicious. I asked him for a Vin number, CURRENT photgraphs of the car, and why he's selling it on a US market and not a local one in his area.
I mean a MINI is a MINI and somebody ANYWHERE should be thankful to buy one. I told him that there seems to be a "conspiracy" happening. lol. Maybe not in those words....harassment isn't the greatest thing to get in trouble over nowadays.
I noticed a member was located in Spain. Maybe I'll have him look up the car for me to see if it's real. LOL

I wouldn't even waste my time responding. Don't take any chances and don't fall for the "pity me" scheme. Being the "good guy" isn't always the right way. Stand tough and be extremely wary of these types of funky deals.
If it even smells funny, walk away.

The way the cookie crumbles.....
So the guy gave me the VIN number for the car and I searched for it on the Internet...stupid thing is, you have to pay to get the FULL report for the car. It gave me the stats which i already knew but nothing like...lost, stolen, Lemon....anything good..lol...
I'm intrigued by this case...heck, I've even got my mom in on the chase and we're researching this thing. lol.
Any suggestions for the VIN or is that the way the cookie crumbles....i have to pay to get a report?
