Best spark plugs for a stock R53

Hello,

I'm about to replace the spark plugs on my stock R53 and I wanted to know what would be the best choice.
I have checked and the stock ones are NGK BKR6EQUP for standard Cooper S and NGK BKR7EQUP for JCW. These are made of platinum.
Then I also heard it could be good switching to BKR6EIX/BKR7EIX which are made from iridium which seems to be better on the long term.
Regarding colder/hotter is it ok changing to a colder index (7) even if my car is stock?

Sometimes the simplest subject can get highly complicated.

I highly recommend reading this epic thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ark-plugs.html

You will see multiple viewpoints and experiences there, and everyone has an opinion of course.

In most cases, rating something "the best" is entirely subjective.

That said,
my preference is the simple copper plugs.
I run NGK BKR7E in my 2006 JCW.

It really matters to me and I have owned many Mini's and the S models in particular.
The only plugs I will use are the NGK BKR6EIX (or BKR7EIX, if you are running a hopped up engine) I use the 6 model in my 06 R53 JCW.
It never pings, knocks or stutters and always starts right up! What more can you ask for? BMW/Mini recommends NGK!

Good choice! Just don't wait so long to change them. My Mini sparkles with new sparks.
