Thanks... all good thoughts.
I will load test the battery... Could be due to voltage drops.
Not sure I know what a "clutter" is? ****** You mean instrument "cluster"?
I don't have or know how to use INPA but it might be time to learn.
I think I will pull the tach next... but I don't want to put the BCM back to gather if there something else to test there....

K-bus Fixed.

I'm posting this for the next guy.
My original problem was a K-bus error code where the sun roof, turn signal clicks, radio all didn't work as well as the seatbelt and airbag error lights came on the instrument cluster.

K-bus error

WHITE & RED wire with YELLOW stripe is the K-BUS wire. Runs to all the modules on the K-bus shown here.

  1. Disconnected the battery from the car completely and charged the battery
  2. Reset ECU - Didn't seem to change anything.
  3. Passenger footwell BCM/ Body Control module ~ No corrosion. Sticker on side shows no sign of moisture. All wire harnesses look spotless inducing the inside of the module.
  4. Alternator ~ Checked good. 14.3 V.
  5. Check all the fuses.
  6. Wiring harness in Drivers footwell ~ have not checked this.
  7. Unplug Tachometer - Caused a 67 Can Bus error for KOM2 but still have the K-bus error. Plugged it back in and cleared code.
  8. Pulled the center instrument cluster but found no signs of corrosion or tampered wires.

I'm out. Took it to the dealership:
About 3 years ago I read about the IPOD connectors causing electrical weirdness. So I took it out. Evidently I didn't take it all out. The adapter wiring harness was still connected to the radio and caused the K-bus problems. So they removed and rewired the IPOD interface harness back the factory specs and were able to clear all the codes after that.
So if you have an old IPOD adapter.... you might want to
investigate there too.
Here's the rest of the harness that the dealership removed.

Just seeing your thread for the first time, and was going to ask if you had the iPod adapter. Had similar symptoms on my car and that was the fix.

Fortunately an easy one to remove.

The ONLY light that comes on the speedo is the air bag light.

I took the speedo out and checked the connections, both tight. I checked the connections on the climate control, all good. The car runs and drives perfect, but I have no back lights on the dash, and the things I said wasn't working, isn't working.

I checked the fuses under the dash with the volt meter and they're all good EXCEPT F5 which to me looks like the gauge fuse location ? It's only getting 0.30 volts compared to the rest which is 12+. Im really really hoping it's something simple like the speedo because those are affordable on eBay. I can't stand no air conditioning here in Texas so I'm driving my other car until I get this issue resolved.

I checked the battery also. It's 12.4 volts with the car off, and 14.3 with the car on. So alternator is working as it should.

Anyone have any ideas? I hate not having my car working properly!!

Thanks guys, and hope you have a fantastic day!

Rodney

The photo is with the car RUNNING. You can see nothing is working
Did you fix it?
