My '05 auto dimming mirror is not working. Does anyone know this works and what could be wrong?

 

My understanding is that there is light sensor on the front and back of the mirror that activate the dimming. The actual dimming action is probably some kind LCD. Not sure if it is actually LCD or not. I have a 2004 since new and have never had an issue with it not working unless something is blocking one of the light sensors. If you block the front one, the mirror will go dark and stay that way (until the front is unblocked).

 

The fluid inside went bad. There’s a few companies that can repair it. About $100
