So I have this crazy neighbor who lives in the house across the street, he really is an oddball. He thinks UFOs landed in the woods at the bottom of the street, and told me that your watch will run backwards if you go in there. He also tried to build a platform on his roof so he could watch for the UFOs (and watch the rest of our houses as well I suspect.) We affectionately refer to him as the Village Idiot. One day last year, he approached me and asked what it was like to be a private detective. I told him my wife and I work for a publishing company, but he just gave me this uh-huh-yeah-right look. Later, a neighbor called me laughing, saying he had spoken to the V.I. and that the V.I. told him that my wife and I were a private detective team. Apparently she is the field operative wearing the earpiece and does the dangerous work wearing glamorous clothes, and I am the technogeek who sits in a van typing on the computer and whispering instructions to her. We laughed about this, and decided maybe it wasnt so bad to have the local crazy guy be a bit scared of us.

Anyway, the MINI arrived on the scene a few months ago, and the V.I. wandered over to have a look. He was most interested in the nav system, and was shocked when I demonstrated how the car could talk and display maps on the screen. Now, I hear from my other neighbor that the V.I. is convinced that the MINI is a spy car, and we can use it to track people, receive instructions from home base, etc.

I know it sounds somewhat scary, but dont worry, this guy is thoroughly harmless. It is VERY entertaining though! Last time we pulled up in the MINI when he was outside, we got a bit mischievous and made a great show of looking around to make sure we werent being followed by enemy agents before we went into the house.

Just thought Id share this funny story with you guys!

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (CNN) -- Fighter jets scrambled in an unsuccessful attempt to investigate a contrail of unknown origin first seen over the Caribbean and later reported over the midwestern United States, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command scrambled the jets soon after unverified reports were received around 4 p.m. Wednesday that the contrail, seen near the Turks and Caicos Islands, was headed northwest toward the United States, said Lt. Cmdr. Curtis Jenkins, a spokesman for the Colorado Springs-based group.

I love it! I was also thinking of having my wife drive up really fast in the Mini and come to a screeching halt while throwing open the passenger door, then I could run out of the house and dive in yelling "GO GO GO!!!!" then we would peal out of there!!!
