R50/53 Mini names
MINI In Black. We ordered with out seeing astro black on anything but the web page. Then later that night MIB was on HBO. The Xenons reminded me of some king of MIB weapon. MINI in Black it was. SO MUCH different in the daylight.

I've yet to name my 06 MCS. No hurry. One of these days a name will come to mind.
I was going to call it GALIJAFA (get a life. its just a freaking automobile). Then after driving it for a few weeks, the permanent plates arrived. The last 3 characters were "DXY". So the name changed to Dixie.
APRIL
Met my now wife on April 1st and ordered my '05 MCS on April 1st three years later. Two VERY significant days for me/us. The name fits!
Which reminds me, I never had a name for any of my previous six vehicles except maybe "that piece of sh**," lol... just kidding.

Before my Cooper S I had two cars, a 99 MCoupe (Little Boy) and an 84 Suburban Diesel (Big Boy). When I bought my 05 Cooper S to replace the Suburban, the dilemma came up as to whether the MINI should be called Big Boy or Little Boy 2. But in the end I refer to the MINI mostly as MOSKITO just like the tag says. A tiny insect with a big sting.

"Jack-Jack"

Jack-Jack is the baby of Pixar/Disney's 'The Incredibles'..
Jack-Jack's round and large eyes, MINI's round and large head-lights..
Jack-Jack's hair style, MINI's antenna..
Jack-Jack is small and cute, MINI is small and cute..
Jack-Jack is smiling, MINI is smiling..
People think that they have no super power..
The time comes,
Their latent super powers are revealed...

Before I got my MINI, I had never named a car either, but I knew that my MINI would be unlike any other car I'd ever had so he got a name...Bruno b/c he has a little man complex and needs to have one of those macho names to keep the image up

Names are usually a bone of contention around here. Typically our cars are named after their color, like Blacky and Whitey the Wicked Weasel or, after my son became fond of Harry Potter, characters from that series. Dumbledoor (F250) and Hermione (944 S2). Elford breaks with this tradition and is named after one of my racing heroes Vic Elford, notable for piloting both Porsches and Mini Coopers.
My LY MCSC's name is "Banana Wind" .... First, it's yellow, so that's where Banana comes from. Second, its a convertible, so that's where the Wind comes from. And third, Banana Wind is the name of a CD by Jimmy Buffett, which I'm a huge fan of (yes, I'm a Parrott Head).

A name that seems to fit (it sure took long enough)
I may have settled on "Monty", short for Montague (my wife's Brit boss's middle name), since it is British and evokes Monte as in Carlo (famous races won by Minis in the 60's).
I kept looking at my MCS and thinking... black, shiny, evil... and something about shape of the front, not sure exactly what... and I kept thinking Darth Vader - so MinVader was born!
Mine ended up with "Little 95" after what I was called as a kid from my father's badge number in the Minnesota State Patrol. He joined in 1942 retired in 1967 and passed away in 2004, just shy of 91 years old. I retired after 20 years from USMC in 1997 and had kicked around a lot of USMC related names but made it more personal in the end.
