Hello everyone I just bought me a '05 S from the original owner with 69K miles and in pristine condition. It has all options except the cold weather pkg since the owner lived in Calif. Even has the optional higher cost color Hyper Blue. I've always wanted one since they first came out but never bought one until now. This car was bone stock but I have added some of my touches like a Miltek Exhaust, CAI, Marshall Boost & Oil pressure gauges and a 16% underdrive pulley. (not installed yet) I enjoy this car so much and handles like a go cart. I do have a couple questions though.
1. Whats normal oil pres for this car? When warm and at idle it's around 18 psi and normal driving it's about 35-40 psi. Cold at startup is around 60 psi and drops to around to 40 as it starts to warm up.
2. When I exit the car and I'm sitting in the seat and want to lock the doors the only way I can do it is after I get out and shut the door then hit the remote. Is that normal? I try to with the door open hit the lock toggle sw. but it won't lock.
3.How in the world does the rain sensing wipers work? In the manual it says to put the stalk in the #1 position but doesn't do anything except if I start the car the wipers will cycle 1 or 2 times. Nothing else though.

Thank you for your time.

The oil pressure is fine. The lock function is normal. Can’t help you on the wipers.

I use the auto wipers a lot. From what i found to work is on the wiper control push it up one click and the wipers will move once then you are in auto mode. There is a sensor up top by the rear view mirror that senses the water and turns on the wipers. The harder the rain the faster they move. Not to sure if you have to have to pull up once every time you start the car (i believe you do) Next time you are in rain play around with it. Congrats on the new MINI. They are a joy to drive, I have had mine for about 10 months now and love it.
