Picked up my '05 MCS/JCW on Saturday

Well, I've finally got it. Ordered on Sept. 18, completed production on Oct. 12, took delivery on Nov. 13 at MINI of St. Louis. CR/W, cloth, cold pkg, xenons, H-K, white 16" wheels, DSC, MFSW, body color interior, chrome interior, fog lights, OBC, JCW. Currently have about 350 miles on the odometer. My initial impression is that the car is rock-solid and handles like its on rails. I can't wait to get to 1250 miles so I can begin to realize the benefit of the JCW kit. The only issue I've noticed so far is a slight buzzing from the passenger-side H-K speaker, but I'm focusing on all the positive's, not looking for negatives! I will say that the interior reminds me of my 2000 Corvette in one way - there's absolutely no usable storage for CD's and stuff. What do the rest of you do for storage? I had been thinking that I would need to add an arm rest, but after driving it for 3 days, I'm not sure that I need one. Another small issue that I guess I expected, is that the white wheels get dirty really fast from brake pad dust. Anyway, I'm loving the car, and wanted to share.

I got an ipod for my car, so no more problems with storing CD's!

Have you joined the St. Louis MINI Club? We have several members from Mid-Missouri (I'm originally from Boonville) and would love to have you in the club.

Go to www.stlmini.com to join. Be sure to check out our forum here on NAM!

Ditto on the ipod. But occasionally friends bring along Cds.

the 05 plays mp3s and wma's on cds...so u can make cds with about 100-150 songs, or about 10 cds worth, and then u don't need as much storage space...u can fit 200 cds onto 20 cdrs and then just get a visor cd-holder that'll hold all 20...

If you put that much music on a CD-R, does the H-K allow you to easily sort through what's on the disc to find what you want to listen to? Also, although I've got a CD burner on my PC, I've never copied any music. Is this difficult to do?

Hey Rocketman,

Congrats. Great color! I sold my 01 Vette and have had my 05 MCS since August. I don't miss the arm rest and honestly am having more fun with BUD than I have had with any of my previous "muscle cars". It is fun to redline in first and Not be going 75--though it sounds and feels like it. Enjoy. JCW nice. Nick

I was going to get the iPod adapter for he MINI but since I have NAV and the CD player plays MP3's I'm not really thinking about it now. My current CD has 160 tracks which should last anyone a few days. Plus the fact that CDr's are what $0.10 or something? No point in having a CD collection in car since you can fit 10ish normal cd's on 1 mp3 cd (and more if you omit songs you don't care for).

Did you have your MINI pre JCW? I picked up mine in october and just picked it up again with JCW yesterday. What a difference!
