Windshield Replacement San Diego Area

Anyone done a windshield replacement in the San Diego area (El Cajon)? I took a rock in the windshield last week. I am trying an Allstar Glass repair first. If that doesn't keep it from traveling, then I'll have to get a replacement. Allstar said they replaced a Mini windshield within the last few weeks? They quoted a price of $234? This sound much better than the $400-$1200 I have been reading about here!!! Anyone here get their new windshield from Allstar? Good or bad experience??

I'm on my third windshield....

Don't know about your area, but my first one was done at Mini of Mountain View CA for $613, and the second was a place that drove to my work, for $215. I'm happy with the low-ball work, and I drive fast enough that I'm sure this won't be the last.

Good luck!

Matt

I had to have my windshield replaced when I returned my Jetta at the end of its lease. My father recommended calling Safelite auto glass after he used them to replace his windshield. Cost for me was between $250-300. VW would have charged me $400. Mini windshields are smaller, so they might be cheaper.

Obviously I didn't have the car for long after the replacement, but the quality and workmanship were good as far as I could tell. They have a website, of course: http://www.safelite.com/

MiniFen,

Just had mine replaced by AllStar. Make sure that they don't jerk you around. That price sounds about right--but double check the install. They didn't quite fit mine correctly & broke the pins at the base. New one re-installed today.

windshield replacement

Call Best Price Auto Glass in Casa De Oro. They replaced mine for free. You call them and they'll tell you how. They are located on Campo Rd. I highly recommend them.

Why not make a claim on insurance? It is a comprehensive claim, so no penalties to you and most glass places will waive the deductible.

Could you tell me who the vendor is that came out and replaced your windshield ($215). I'm looking to replace my very pitted windshield soon.

Thanks,
kmickey
