This is a one owner car. I've got a pretty good relationship going with them. So I know the service history. Again, its just oil changes and brake pads haha. They did all the recall work though. ie: updated PS pump (which isn't working) and expansion tank,

Dude and Dudette were awesome. They threw in a few specialty tools and a Bentley manual with the car. I must have made a good impression, because he kept walking into his garage and bringing stuff out as we were talking. I don't think he intended to part with that stuff....

Looks like a good project, like that you are saving it rather than parting it like some would. And that green roof is cool as that wasn't factory.

also cool Bug as I love those too.

British Racing Green. They had the roof, stripes, and some interior parts painted the week they brought it home. Clear coat was still wet they said.

Been a long time since I've posted here. I took some time off, but am back on it now.

some stuff I've done so far;
fuel filter
strut mounts
purge solenoid valve
timing chain tensioner
plug wires
oil and filter
pcv valve

I had a serious issue with 8 codes, and the car running like crap. I messed with it for 6 months trying to get it figured out. Fuse number 3 under the hood blew, and every code i had was part of that circuit. I went through and traced every wire i could looking for bad grounds or shorted wires. Nothing. Spoke with a MINI tech and he recommended looking under the engine bay fuse panel as that is a common pinch point he said. Tore every thing apart still nothing.

In the end i got a code for a short in the purge solenoid, so i unplugged it and plugged it back in. Magically all my problems went away... i went and replaced the solenoid anyways.

That looks familiar! Just had all those parts strung out on my work bench.

If you grab the UPS guy while he's still holding the box they're easier to hug. 😁

Nice shiny and new! Your MINI will be running smoother with the PRW and handling a lot better soon.

Looks like the Swift springs lower the car a similar amount to the TSW or older H-Sport springs. Planning on trimming the bumpstops? You may or may not need to in order to preserve some suspension travel. I had to trim the stops with the H-Sport springs. I lopped off about 20mm from all of them. (For the record, I removed the top part of the stops.)

I see everything but swaybar bushings and outer balljoints, you planning to replace those too? I regret not replacing the swaybar bushings since I had the subframe out, oh well....

I spoke with Collin from Greene Performance and he said no need to trim the bump spots. So i left em alone.

i am going to remove the lower arm and swap the bushings that way. Hoping i can do it all without dropping the sub frame. I probably should do the other ball joints now. But they seem pretty solid still, as do the tie rods.

i don't know what i wanna do with the sway bar yet. Stock or poly? I know an aftermarket rear bar will happen.

i installed my PRW pulley Friday. Every thing was going very smoothly, that is until i snapped my brand new crank bolt off inside the crank...

On Saturday i spent 5 1/2 hours drilling, swearing, bleeding, tapping, and swearing some more working it out.

Lazy Sunday

Drove out of the shop today for the first time in months. Boy is she filthy.

a quick power wash and it doesnt look much better. You can see i have a bit of body work and paint to do yet. Hoping to have everything buttoned up in a month or so.

Just finished some suspension work. New Bilstien B4s, and Swift springs. Powerflex control arm bushings, all new ball joints.

Did the rear wiper delete.

Working on rust removal and body work now. My least favorite of all automotive work, next to swapping gear oil...

Great thread! Always enjoy reading these restoration threads. Did you ever take off the drain plug on the supercharger and see what the condition of the oil, and how much oil was left in there?

I'm curious to see what it looks like (if any) after 200k+ miles. I'm at 180k and looking to do the same. I've never seen one with that high of a mileage without having the SC serviced.

The supercharger service was the first thing i did. One side came out like molasses amd smelt of death and decay. The other side was dry.

I haven't updated this. The car is currently back in service. I've put in 1000 trouble free miles this month.

I recently did the one ball mod. That really seemed to wake up the car. I plan to modify my airbox pretty soon. Free or cheap mods are where its at now.

Did you replace all ball joints? If so were they definitely worn? Do you notice a difference?

I did the ball joints, even though the ones in there were still fine. Better safe than sorry.

My car got back into in a parking lot. The hood and bumper are toast.

I found a 06 mcs for parts. I plan to swap the facelift stuff over.

I also want to rebuild the motor and tranny over the winter. All the go fast goodies...

Is this just a bolt in swap? Do i need computer work?
