For what it may be worth -

Some of you may have seen my post about changing the inside rear view mirror in my 2005, to a smaller, windshield mounted mirror. While I can now see much more/better out of the windshield -
I have lost the ability to lock and unlock the locks from a distance with the buttons in the key. Everything else appears to work properly.
I plugged the mirror in, tried the outside locking feature, works fine, unplugged the mirror, no key button actuation.
I did this three times, fact.
Oh well, I like the better view out of the windshield.

Only a few months ago my friend tried to train a new key, and he showed me the procedure. I notice he held the key up to the mirror, but no words needed to be exchanged.
