just put some coilovers on my Vert.
Please tell us which you go with, and do share your experience with us.

In the early years some beige car owners think Minis are chick cars because they look cute.

I put Koni Coilovers on. Between the Koni's and the MINI vid, I am ready for Squirrel Spur Road.

For those that have no idea what I am talking about, picture a squirrel on some Walter White stuff and now change that thought to a MINI on a twisty road.

Koni coilovers are very good. Did you get them used as new are priced at unobtainium?

You stole them. They have to be hot. Anyone on NAM found their Mini dragging on the road please check the suspension.

Interesting looking set of Koni COs. I have not seen a chrome finish COs from them. Not much info out there on this.

a couple of morphtastics

Learnt something new every day. Today's big word is morphtastic. I came across these excellent videos that summarize the running design DNAs of two German iconic car companies. I especially like the mention of tension between restraint and evolution. Also how this thread has morphed.

project binky

If you've got some time to kill this is one entertaining build video, and it is just the 12th episode. The British humor is contagious. They are building an all wheel drive turbo classic mini.

They are both engineers that races rally cars. I have not seen anyone with such a wide breadth of fab, machining, and designing skills. They designed and built that mini rotisserie as well as countless jags and special tools. They are building the mini by hands basically from scratch. I have been binge-watching the episodes. Netflix should snap them up. The video production is top notch. Note the long closing credits at the end.

Here is their site bad obsession motorsport.

If I had something other than satellite internet I'd watch the series. Have to ration my bytes.

They stopped making this kit around 2011. Basically have Koni Yellows with adjustable spring perches. Pretty sure the springs are Eibach. The front part number is the same as the Yellow except where the Yellows are RSport or LSport, the COs are RK and LK. The backs are a little different as you have to remove them to adjust the dampening, a PIA but it is what it is. I have them set at 50% and 50%. Would go a little stiffer on the fronts when doing some twisties.

a new episode is up!

Waiting for another episode of this entertaining built is like watching uranium half life to pass.

A new episode is here (released more than a fortnight ago) finally, as I just discovered.

This thread should never die --- it's just too damn fun!

Update on the latest Martijn mod --- I really dig how he went with the retro vibe being inspired by some classic old stuff, and how he approaches things in general,
he has a really keen eye combined with good skill and a playful spirit.

I like it.

:

Also,
was just randomly browsing earlier and came across an incredible ground-up build thread that had me absorbed and I thought of this thread, so here it is, an oldie but a goodie, from a decade ago and maybe you've already seen it, but I was captivated to scroll through looking and seeing the car be born.

good stuff,

:

And,
since this thread is tangentially all over the place,
I'll sign off with Opel Gt fliplights!

Thanks for bring this back up. I have not been getting notifications though I subscribed to Martijn's thread. He has some of the best photography with tastefully chosen locations and compositions.

I will enjoy that Mini race car build on the Bimmer forum.

The rolling eyes Opel is epic funny.
