R50/53 Your thoughts?
I have an estimated production date of 12/22 for a MCS. This means that my car will be on the assembly line throughout the holidays. Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve...etc. the whole holiday fest. I'm counting on the talented people who put these together to be on top of their game (so to speak.)
Do you think the build quality will be effected one way or another because of the holidays?
Will the individuals be
a) distracted, hung-over, watching the clock, can't wait to get the hell out of there....or
b) bringing the love to the job.
I'm wondering if I shouldn't wait til January. Seriously.

I think that the build quality will not be Affected over the holidays because the factory will be closed for two weeks. I believe you've been fed a line regarding delivery. The Effect will be that you'll get your MINI a couple of weeks late. I worked at Cowley in Oxford for years and people there don't work over the holidays.

Before most (if not all) of us were born, a relitive of mine bought a FORD motorcar in Detroit, The Motor City. He detected a rattle the first day he had it. After several trips to the dealer, they finally isolated the noise to a door panel. The dealer removed the door panel and to everyone's surprise, there sat an empty coke bottle in the door well. Once removed, the car was fine. My relitive was put out a few trips to the dealer and I have an interesting story to tell. Enjoy your new car - embrace its quirks - supply your grandchildren with many interesting stories.

I'm not calling your ancestors liers, but i've heard that story too often, and with too many variations (the bag lunch comes to mind) that it just seems too much like an urban legend to me....

I'll agree with you, Rocketboy, it may be a lark, but this is the important part.....
